If your zebra finches are sleeping throughout the day, then yes that is unusual. If they are fluffed up while sleeping, this is a sure sign that something is wrong. Set up a ‘hospital cage’ for them. Have a cage that doesn’t have distractions, is covered on 3 sides and with a heat lamp or at least in a warm room. If possible, have them in different cages and in different rooms where they can’t hear each other and stir each other up while sick.

If this has been going on for a while, I would call the vet asap, an avian vet if possible (especially for little finches).
If it is not sickness, something might be disturbing them which is making them ill, consider where their cage is, the type of environment and what you provide for them, something might be stressing them out and making them sick.

Good luck!
